Dr. Pragya Sharma, born in 1981 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, is a renowned poet, writer, and author, based in Mumbai. She is recognized for her contributions in Hindi and Urdu literature. She is a prominent name in the world of Kavi Sammelan and mushairas, performing poetry both nationally and internationally.[1][2] In 2023, she was honored with the Uttar Kala Shree Award jointly by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and Abhiyan.[3][4][5]

Career[edit]

Dr. Sharma has recited her poetry at numerous national and international Kavi Sammelan and Mushairas, such as the Red Fort Kavi Sammelan, Gateway of India Republic Day Mushaira, Dubai Mushaira, and Parliament House Kavi Sammelan. Her poems have been aired on television and radio channels and published in over 20 joint poetry collections. She is the author of Maut Ka Zindaginam (2021), a poetry collection based on Covid-19, which have received critical acclaim.

She has also delivered poetry readings for various government organizations, including the Maharashtra State Urdu Sahitya Academy and the Hindi Academy in New Delhi, on various occasions.[6]

In addition to her literary pursuits, Dr. Sharma is a founding member of Kavi Sammelan Samiti and the Founder-Director of the Pragya Welfare Foundation, where she actively participates in various social works. She currently resides in Mumbai, Maharashtra.[7]

Recognition[edit]

Dr. Pragya Sharma was recognized with the prestigious Uttar Sahitya Shree Award at the 35th Lok Mahotsav in Mumbai in 2023. The award was presented by Abhiyan in collaboration with the Tourism Department of Uttar Pradesh Government on the occasion of Uttar Pradesh Day.
