Dragon Ball Extreme[1] is a Cancelled Animated Series that was initially conceptualized by Maxio[2], an American YouTuber, Animator, and Music Artist. Based on the immensely popular anime "Dragon Ball," Maxio embarked on the project with the goal of creating an original animated series.
Production
"Dragon Ball Extreme" [3]can be traced back to Maxio's early years when he originally created the concept as a comic at the age of 14.[4] The concept lay dormant for several years until Maxio decided to revive it in 2021, driven by his passion for storytelling and animation. With the aim of transforming his vision into a captivating animated series, Maxio embarked on the challenging task of bringing "Dragon Ball Extreme"[3] to life.
In January 2022, Maxio provided a glimpse of his work-in-progress by sharing a video titled "An Unfinished Project..."[5] on his YouTube channel. The video offered a preview of what he referred to as DBX, which later revealed to stand for "Dragon Ball Extreme." However, despite Maxio's commitment to the project, he encountered various obstacles along the way. Scheduling conflicts and the complexities of collaborating with a team ultimately hindered the completion of "Dragon Ball Extreme."[3] In an interview with Dan Thatcher on Medium[6], Maxio candidly expressed his disappointment over the series' cancellation, acknowledging the challenges he faced and the limitations he encountered in bringing his ambitious project to fruition. Dragon Ball Extreme aimed to expand upon the beloved Dragon Ball universe, presenting fans with new storylines, characters, and adventures. While the animated series remained unfinished, its concept and Maxio's creative efforts garnered attention within the Dragon Ball community and beyond.
