) is a 1983 Indian Bengali-language romantic action film co-written and directed by Bimal Roy Jr. Produced by Nirmal Kumar Guha under the banner of Usha Enterprises, the film stars Prosenjit Chatterjee in his first leading role, opposite Mita Deb Roy in her cinematic debut, alongside an ensemble cast of Utpal Dutt, Dipankar De, Manju Chakraborty, Sumitra Mukherjee, Rabi Ghosh, Chinmoy Roy and Santosh Dutta in other pivotal roles.
Thematically and stylistically inspired by the Archie comics, Duti Pata introduced to Bengali cinema the genre of teen-age romance with a rich-versus-poor clash as a backdrop. The story and dialogues of the film are written by Dr. Biswanath Roy, who himself was fond of the comics. It marks the first of the frequent collaborations between Bimal Roy Jr and Chatterjee. Major parts of the film were shot in Darjeeling, Siliguri, while portions were filmed in Kolkata, Kalimpong and Phuguri. Music of the film is composed by Mrinal Bandyopadhyay, with lyrics penned by Gauriprasanna Mazumder. Kanai Dey handled its cinematography and Ramesh Joshi edited the film.
Duti Pata theatrically released on 13 May 1983, opening to general positive response both critically and commercially. It broke several box office records for a Bengali film, including the highest opening weekend and highest opening week for a Bengali film in India, until the release of Pratidan in the same year. It emerged as the second highest-grossing Bengali film of 1983, running for over 210 days in theatres.
