The Jersey Electric Vehicle Company Ltd., trading as EVie, is an on-demand electric vehicle hire company operating in Jersey and Guernsey.[1]
The company was founded by Jersey entrepreneur Gavin Breeze at the end of 2019,[2] initially providing an electric car-sharing service in Jersey's capital St Helier with three BMW i3 electric cars and one electric van, with an aim to increase to 20 vehicles by the end of 2020. Then, later in 2020, the company launched a dockless electric bicycle hire scheme, branded as EVie Bikes in Jersey using the Freebike app.[3]
In April 2021, EVie expanded their operations to Guernsey with 25 new electric bikes.[4]
In May 2021, the Government launched a joint 'park and ride' initiative, whereby users can park in parking laybys on Victoria Avenue for half price, and hire an EVie bike to cycle onward towards St Helier.[5]
