Early life[edit]

Born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, EchoSlim moved to Miami, Florida in his early teenage years.[2] EchoSlim quickly became active and immersed in sound system culture, and immediately started DJing following the footsteps of his older cousins.[3]

Career[edit]

EchoSlim's career started under the name DJ TK in 1998.[1][4] EchoSlim began touring in the year 2005 with the Grammy nominated Hip-Hop group Black Violin[5]. They went on to perform on the same bill with some of the industry's biggest artists, such as Aerosmith, Beyonce, Wu-Tang Clan, and Kanye West among others.[6]

After touring for ten years with Black Violin, EchoSlim departed and formed his own recording label, developed young artists, and built the music production company Frens Fi Years (FFY).[7] In the year 2015, EchoSlim performed at SXSW[8][9][10] (South By SouthWest) at the Sol Collective official showcase.[9] EchoSlim's showcase featured performances by Ataklan, Kaydance, Mr. BEATdown! and more.

EchoSlim's production can be found on the 2020 Grammy award winning Reggae album “Rapture[11]” by Koffee. Co-producing the single “Throne” with Nicko Rebel, Sean Alaric, and Walshy Fire[12][13] of Major Lazer.[14]

In 2022, EchoSlim, Nicko Rebel, and Sean Alaric, along with song writer Vision Alexander, were a part of the production team for the Grammy nominated Best Reggae album Royal[15], by Jesse Royal, the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.[16] The 4 composers, along with Jesse Royal, produced "Dirty Money[17]", featuring Afropop / Dancehall artist Stonebwoy.[18]
