Edward Thomas Jackson OMC (born February 25, 1951) also known as Ted Jackson is a professor, research fellow at Carleton University, consultant, and editor based in Canada.[1][2] He has served as a founding director of the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation at Carleton University. Jackson served as a reviewer for the American Journal of Evaluation, the Journal of Business Ethics, and the Canadian Journal of Program Evaluation.[3][4] He is an elected fellow of Royal Society of Arts and member of Canada Forum for Impact Investment and Development.

Early life and education

Jackson was born and raised in Ottawa. He went to North Grenville District High School for his early education. Jackson attended University of Western Ontario for higher education.[1]

Career

Jackson started his career as a labourer-teacher at Frontier College, teaching English to immigrant workers.[5] He then worked as a program coordinator at Frontier’s headquarters, traveling across Canada to support its volunteer field staff. In 1976, Jackson participated in an international conference on adult education and development in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where he met Paulo Freire and roomed with Budd Hall.[6][relevant? ] From 1976 to 1981, during his graduate studies, Jackson also served as a project officer with the International Council for Adult Education and coordinated its participatory research group.[7]

In 1993, Jackson established Carleton Centre for Community Innovation along with Tim Brodhead and Katherine Graham.[8] Later, he received Faculty of Public Affairs Teaching Excellence Award from the Carleton University for his work.[9] Jackson also served as a Visiting lecturer at Trent University and is an Adjunct professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa.[10]

Jackson has written journalistic articles on HuffPost, Winnipeg Free Press, Ottawa Citizen, American Evaluation Association, The Hill Times, Daily FT and Institute of Development Studies.[11][12][13][14]

He is the founder of E.T. Jackson and Associates.[15]
