Edwin B. Mayberry (October 31, 1895 – September 26, 1918) was a United States Army private who died during World War I. Along with Edgar Anderson, the American Legion Hall in his hometown of Yarmouth, Maine, is now named for him. They both died of Spanish flu while stationed at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, in 1918.[1]

Mayberry was born in 1895.
He enlisted for service in World War I with the 73rd Infantry.[2]
Death[edit]
Mayberry died in 1918, aged 22, while stationed at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, with Company A of the 73rd Infantry. He had contracted Spanish flu during the early stages of the pandemic.[1][2] He is interred in Riverside Cemetery.
Legacy[edit]
The Anderson–Mayberry American Legion Hall[3][4] (known locally as the "Log Cabin"),[5] on Main Street in Yarmouth, is now named for both Mayberry and Edgar Anderson, a fellow Yarmouth native. It was dedicated in 1932.[1]
