History[edit]
Efficy was founded in 2005 by Cédric Pierrard and Robert Houdart (creator of the chess engine Houdini, which won the world championship three times in a row). They were colleagues together at a company editing a collaborative platform (LinkSoftware) that went bankrupt soon after. Seeing the possibilities, they offered to buy the company, supported by a business angel (Philippe Weill) but, in the end, they sold this company and created Efficy. After buying their second company (Expand it) and 8-10 months of development they reached their first Minimum Viabe Product.
Between this period and 2019, Efficy kept growing and Cédric and Robert acquired many companies in various European countries (cf. below)
In 2019, Fortino entered Efficy's private equity to support them in their growth.
In 2021, French private equity firm Apax Partners strengthened its existing shareholding structure.
