"Ekti Ghrinyo Golpo" (Bengali: একটি ঘৃন্য গল্প) is a short story by Suman Sen,[1] first published in September 2017, in an issue of Shabdomala Saptahiki (Bangladesh).[2][3] It was later published in India at Ekabinsha and Sobder Michil.[4][5][6][7]
Plot[edit]
In a night of full moon, Suchitra committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. Her father came quickly to see her by collapsing his shop at the local bazaar.
One and a half month earlier, Both of the kidneys of Suchitra has been damaged. Somnath is a middle class man, he cannot afford the price and the donor. Lastly, he arranged some loan (for the operation) from a friend and decided to donate one of his well conditioned kidney. The operation was good, and Suchitra getting well slowly.
Five months earlier, Suchitra fell in love with her classmate Subhajit. But, Suchitra haven't told her father about him, because Suchitra knows her father wont accept him as son-in-law. Her father wants someone who will stay with her family after marriage, because her father loved her too much and can not send her away from his eyesight. And Subhajit is not a person to be a Gharjamai. Suchitra thought, someday there will be a way definitely, and father will must understand...
During the period of Suchitra's hospitalization and operation, Subhajit didn't came to see her for a single day. Suchitra panicked, 'How is this possible? she is the future wife of Subhajit. How can he do this!'. After leaving the hospital, Suchitra goes to Subhajit's home. She became nude in front of Subhajit (As they did it so many times before Suchitra's illness.). Subhajit came close to her. Suddenly, touches the scar at the back of Suchitra, made by kidney transplant operation. He pushed Suchitra and gets away, and said, with one kidney Suchitra can only live half of her lifetime, and that scar making him uncomfortable during intercourse. He gives a break-up statement and says, He can't marry her. Suchitra got shocked, How can Subhajit say this?! She quickly came home, and committed suicide.
Bindu masi, an women next door seen Suchitra's hanging body and informed her father. Somnath closed the shop at 8:30 p.m and came home. His chest is bursting out with anger and sorrow. He could not understand why this happened.

The story was first published in September 2017, in an issue of Shabdomala Saptahiki (Bangladesh).[2] Later, it was published in India at Ekabinsha and Sobder Michil.[4][5]
The story has been widely acclaimed by readers. In Sobder Michil the story became one of the most read and shared story of that edition (Tyag).[8]

Accident is an upcoming 2017 Indian found footage short film directed and written by Suman Sen.[9][10] Chronologically this film is the continuation of Sen's much talked about short story Ekti Ghrinyo Golpo, where the character Subhajit reprises his role and mentioned the event happened in that story. The announcement of the film occurred in Suman Sen's official Twitter handle with its official logo.[11] In the following week, the poster of this film has been revealed.[12]
