Suman Sen (born 15 May 1992) is an Indian Bengali language writer and independent film maker.[1] He was born in Rishra town of Hooghly district. Mainly focusing on the speculative fiction genre, Sen is best known for his science fantasy novel Sarpa Manav: Nagmoni Rohosyo.

Early life and career

He did schooling from Rishra Brahmananda Keshab Chandra High School. After passing Matriculation, he admitted to Ramakrishna Mission Shilpayatana (A Technical School under Belur Math), to do Vocational Higher Secondary. Then, he admitted Ramakrishna Mission Shilpamandira Computer Center, to do a Certificate course on Multimedia. While he was doing the course, he created a Superhero character, named- 'Electronaut'. That was the first work he did for his stories. After creating the design, he thought to write a story about the character. Then, he introduced so many other characters into it. After that, so many stories and characters were made by him. After leaving Ramakrishna Mission Shilpamandira Computer Center, he did his graduation in B.Sc (IT) under Punjab Technical University. He is also a Computer teacher. During Multimedia and B.Sc (IT) course, he teaches many students and written so many stories too.

Many stories by him has been published in magazines like, Kalpabiswa, Pather Sujan, Galper Samay, Abekshan, Shabder Michil, Annyadesh etc.[2][3][4][5]

In 2017, his debut book Koto Bhoot! Ki Adbhut! published by Barnik Prakashon[6][7][8] and became one of the bestselling book of that house.[9] Later in that year, his novel Sarpa Manav: Nagmoni Rohosyo published by Diganto Publication[10][11][12][13] and generated rave reviews from critics and public.[14] That book also received Shopzaar Bestseller Award 2017-18 from the popular e-commerce website Shopzaar.com.[15][16] His third book Ajana Sima: The X Boundary was published in 2018.[17][18][19][20]

Apart from writing, he is also a graphic designer. He created several covers for books, such as, Prantiyo Uttarbonger Mech Jonojati (Pratham Parba)- Bijoy Das, Barnik Prokashon; Malay Roy Choudhuryr Bitarko - Barnik Prokashon; Morichika - Subhajit Thapa, Diganto Publication; etc.

Personal life

Born to Tarak Sen and Gouri Sen, he belongs to a Bengali middle-class family in Rishra. He is the eldest son of his parents with a sibling.

He dedicated his first two books to his Aunt (elder sister of his father).
