Joaquín Domínguez Portela (born April 13, 1991) better known on the internet as El Xokas is a Spanish internet celebrity, streamer and YouTuber. He did a Minecraft live stream with 1.2 million simultaneous viewers, becoming the third most watched stream on Twitch.[4] He also reached 52,019 subscribers[5], making him the Spanish streamer with the most subscribers on Twitch.[6]
Biography[edit]
El xokas was born on April 13, 1991 in Lugo[7], Galicia. His YouTube channel was created on August 9, 2007 but it was not until October 7, 2009[8] that he uploaded his first video titled Truco con cigarro panchao. In 2016 he started uploading video game content, starting with League of Legends and later WOW Classic.
His Twitch account, which has over 2.8 million followers was created on July 6, 2012 but his first live stream[9] was on June 26, 2017 of the previously mentioned, WOW Classic.
On April 23, 2021 he uploaded to his YouTube channel the first episode of his podcast titled "Xokast"[10] in which he brings Spanish rappers as guests.
On January 17, 2022, he won[11][12] the Esland Award for Revelation Streamer.[13] A few days later he told live that he had lost[14][15] his award and TheGrefg, the organizer of the awards[16] sent him another one.
On January 24, 2022 he reached 1.2 million simultaneous viewers[17][18] while streaming on Twitch the final of the Minecraft Squid Game event, becoming the streamer with the most viewers in a Minecraft live stream and the third most watched streaming on the platform.[19]
On February 5, 2022, he became the Spanish streamer with the most Twitch subscribers, surpassing Ibai Llanos,[20][21] Auronplay and El Rubius.[22] Specifically 46,392[23], although later on February 19 he reached 52,019[24], the maximum of his channel.
Personal life[edit]
El xokas studied Advertising and Marketing[25] in Salamanca[26] and after finishing it he moved to Madrid to study a master's degree in audiovisual post production.[27][28] After finishing this master's degree he started working as a video editor for Real Madrid.[29] Work that he left[30] to devote himself full time to be a streamer.
