Elías De Léon is a Puerto Rican label executive and CEO of White Lion Records a Latin record label. He started his label with the release of Daddy Yankee's first solo album "No Mercy" in 1995. De Léon has been a part of many successful latin artist in the music industry. Tego Calderon "El Abayarde" was released under White lion Records in 2002. Cosculluela, Zion Y Lennox, Jowell Y Randy, Voltio and Calle 13 who has won the most latin grammys with 24 Latin and 4 Grammy Awards are among the artist that Elías has discovered[1]. As of recent De Léon is currently managing[2] Darell, La Tribu De Abrante,[3] Sin Sensura,[4] Brray.[5]
Career[edit]
Elias De Leon started his musical career right after graduating from high school in Puerto Rico. After his studies he moved to New York where he assisted in a performance of legendary latin rapper Vico C. After meeting a representative from his team De Léon's interest grew in the music business.
1992[edit]
In 1992 he meets Dj Playero after returning to Puerto Rico. Dj Playero working on "Playero 37" at the time introduced him to the artist in the compilation album. Among those artist he meets Daddy Yankee. On this album is where he starts his career as an executive producer.
1995[edit]
He executive Produces his first solo album with Daddy Yankee's "No Mercy" .
1997[edit]
Boriqua Guerrero "First Combat" was created in 1997. A compliation album featuring latin artist and Hip Hop artist. Among those hip hop artist Fat Joe, Nas, Big Pun, Busta Rymes, Lost Boys.
2002[edit]
Elias De Leon releases El Abayarde from artist Tego Calderon (which was signed to White Lion Records at the time) The album sells 75,000 copies the first week and 300,000 despite bring bootlegged.
2004[edit]
Debuts Zion Y Lennox - "Motivando A La Yal" lands at 13th on U.S. Latin Pop Albums.
2005[edit]
Calle 13 "Calle 13" is released and is awared 3 Latin Grammys including Best Urban Music Album, Best New Artist, and Best Short Form Music Video for their first single Atrévete-te-te. (Calle 13 has 28 Grammys in total to date)
