Elisabeth Bentley
Elisabeth Bentley is an American screenwriter, producer and director. Her screenplay Nanking earned a Writers Guild Nomination for best documentary screenplay (2007)[1] and was short-listed for an Academy Award in the documentary feature category.[2] She produced Beautiful Darling about the life of Candy Darling, transgender pioneer and Warhol superstar (2010). Bentley’s films have been honored at Sundance, the Berlinale, the Film Society of Lincoln Center [3] and MoMA [4] and have been broadcast on HBO, the Sundance Channel and SyFy.[citation needed]
In 2010 she initiated work on a film about Franz Jagerstatter, originally titled In Solitary Witness, now titled Radegund. The film is forthcoming in 2019 and is directed by Terrence Malick. Bentley is credited as a producer on this film [5]
Bentley has been published in The Los Angeles Times magazine [6] and the Times of India. Her book, "Organizing the Paper Pickers of Ahmedabad" was published by SEWA Mahila Trust.[citation needed]
Bentley received her AB from Harvard College, summa cum laude and phi beta kappa and earned an MA from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. Her documentary work in India was funded by a Michael C. Rockefeller Fellowship from Harvard University.[citation needed]
