Emil Bashkansky is a Professor (profésor khavér; פרופסור חבר) in the department of Industrial Engineering and Management at ORT Braude College of Engineering in the city of Karmiel, Israel.[1]
Biography[edit]
Bashkansky was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine in 1947. He received his M.Sc. in Physics (cum laude) from Gorky University in 1968, and his Ph.D. in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Gorky University in 1973. Emil has lectured and conducted research in the Rybinsk State Aviation Technological Academy and in the Leningrad Institute of Technology.
Early research interests included mathematical and statistical physics, while more recent research interests include statistical tools in quality engineering and metrology. Bashkansky has recently worked on a new system for scoring the Psychometric Entrance Test in Israel; in the new system, the scoring for each question is different and is determined only after all student exams have been collected.[2]
He is the founder and chair of the Galilee quality engineering conference “Quality - Theory and Practice", held annually at the ORT Braude College of Engineering since 2008. This conference is now part of the "week of quality" series of quality engineering events in Israel.[3]
Emil's research has been published in Quality Engineering (journal), Quality and Reliability Engineering International, Quality & Quantity, Journal of Industrial and Management Optimization, and in Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference.
