Yoni Assia (Hebrew: יוני אסיא; born 1 March 1981; Savyon, Israel) is a Hi-tech entrepreneur, CEO and founder of eToro, international social network for financial investments, with more than 11 million users from over 140 states around the world.[1][non-primary source needed][2][non-primary source needed] He is one of the founders of the Israeli Bitcoin Association, and the Israeli Blockchain Industry. He also serves as a member of the board of directors for Meitav Dash,[3][4][5] and the Colu startup.[6][7]
Life[edit]
Yoni Assia is the son of David Assia, a Chair and CEO of Magic Software Enterprises in the past, and Naomi Assia, owner of a legal firm specialising in copyright law.[8][non-primary source needed] During his military service as a programmer in the technology unit of the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate,[citation needed] Yoni started to learn investment management in the Meitav College, of the Meitav Investment House. During his studies, Yoni initiated the start-up company CDRide, which provides solutions for photographing and editing videos for theme park attractions. During his work as CEO of this company, Assia studied for his BSc in computer sciences in the Open University of Israel between 2000-2002.[9][better source needed] Between 2004-2006 he studied for his MSc in computer science in the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya.[10][deprecated source] Assia is a 2-time Cum Laude as he graduated with honors both at the Open University of Israel and the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC).[11]
In 2007, at the age of 25, Assia founded eToro, a social network for financial investment in 140 states around the world, with about 11 million registered users together with his brother Ronen.[12] [13] In eToro commerce arenas, digital currencies are traded, side by side with stocks, bonds, commodities and foreign currencies.[14] The network includes artificial intelligence tools, rating the investment portfolios and recommending the ones that provide the highest yields.[15] So far, the company raised 162 million dollars in five investment rounds.[16][17][18]
In 2013 Assia, co-wrote the Colored Coins white paper with Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin, Colored Coins allows the creation of multiple assets on top of the Bitcoin blockchain.[19][non-primary source needed][20][better source needed] in 2020 Assia participated in a lunch with Warren Buffett, together with Justin Sun, tech entrepreneur, who invited him to join.[21][better source needed] Through the company, Assia works to decrease gaps relating to inequality and poverty around the world, through the GoodDollar initiative.[22][dubious ]
Personal Life[edit]
Yoni is married to Mor Assia, Founder and Co-CEO of iAngels, a venture capital investment platform,[23] father of Adam, Anne, Ari, and Alex who live in Savion. His brother, Ronen Assia, is an entrepreneur and active director in eToro.[24]
