En Kanavan En Thozhan (English: My husband is my friend) is a Tamil television soap opera on the Star Vijay channel. This show is the dubbed version of Hindi serial Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus. It started airing on 29 August 2011 and airs Monday through Saturday at 2 pm IST. It stars Anas Rashid and Deepika Singh in lead roles.
Plot summary[edit]
En Kanavan En Thozhan is a story of a woman named Sandhya who dreams to become an IPS officer. Sandhya gets heart-broken on her parent's death on bomb blast. Now her dream gets shattered when she gets married into a conservative family. Surya is a famous sweet shop owner. He went to Singapore and won World's Top Cook Trophy with the help of Sandhya. Surya and Sandhya realise their love in Singapore. Sandhya hide her IPS dream from Surya. One day, Surya learn this and gave a promise to her that he would help her to achieve her dream. But Saroja did not accept it. So Surya registered Sandhya on a night college in Ajmer. Sandhya secretly continued her studies with the help of Surya. One day, Saroja learn this and scolds Surya and Sandhya. But Arun supports Sandhya. Then Saroja accepts Sandhya's dream with half-minded. Shah rukh khan lead a quiz competition. Inspite of knowing answers, Sandhya is quiet due to Saroja. Surya learn this and encourages Sandhya. Then he gets upset on Saroja's doing and went out of house with Sandhya. Saroja realise her fault and accepts Sandhya's dream with full mind. She also took a promise from Sandhya that she will manage her two duties- an IPS officer and an elder daughter-in-law of Rathi family. Sandhya went to Hyderabad for IPS training. She met several loses in that training. But Surya encourages her. Then Sandhya begin to won in competitions. Zakir, who wants to be first in all, gets jealous on Sandhya. Finally, Sandhya won Best Cadet Trophy. Then Zakir accepts Sandhya as his friend. Sandhya and Zakir protect a terrorist named Rajkumar. He tried to escape many times. Rajkumar's sister Maya do a mission named Operation Grahanam to save Rajkumar. She and her companions Prema and Disha hijack flight 2310 and demands government to release Rajkumar for life of passengers. Due to Sandhya and Zakir's plan, Maya and others get shot. But Rajkumar tries to shoot Surya. Saroja saw this and protect Surya. Thus she gets shot. Arun gets angry on Sandhya and asks her to leave Rathi house. Surya left Sandhya in police quarters. He also tell that their relationship is broken from now. Sandhya gets shocked. Sandhya's brother Ashok came to Rathi house and asks to accept Sandhya. But Surya denies it. Ashok gets angry and break his relationship with Rathi family. Saroja tries to reunite Surya and Sandhya. But Sandhya decides to went Scotland for training.

This show is dubbed in Telugu as Ee Tharam Illalu on Maa TV and remaked in Malayalam as Parasparam on Asianet TV. It also remaked in Kannada, Marathi and Bengali languages but stopped after several episodes.

This show is dubbed in Sri Lanka as “Swapna” on Sirasa TV, Afghanistan as “Da Meeni Deeva”, Vietnam as Vợ tôi là cảnh sát on VTVCab 5 Echannel. It also telecast in Pakistan on Urdu 1 channel without dubbing due to Hindi-Urdu similarity in speech. It also telecast in Thailand, Russia, Romania and Bulgaria with subtitles.
