The Enggros language is a language spoken by Enggros people in Enggros Village, Jayapura, Indonesia. This language is included in the endangered languages, because the speakers switch to using Indonesian language.[1]
Adri's grandmother is one of the speakers who is still fluent in Enggros.[2]
Preservation efforts
As an effort to preserve the Enggros language, the Head of Enggros Village, Orgenes Meraudje plans to make an Enggros language dictionary and it will be written directly by Enggros native people still fluent in Enggros language. According to Orgenes, out of 152 heads of families consisting of 696 people in Enggros Village, only 30 people are fluent in the Enggros language in their daily lives. This Enggros dictionary is planned to be distributed to children to study, with the hope that the younger generation of Enggros will not forget their local language.[1]
Likewise with Adri grandmother, who is fluent in Enggros, she speaks Enggros every day to anyone she meets. The goal is that the Enggros language will not become extinct in Enggros Village.[2]
