Enrico Cambiaso is a researcher on cybersecurity at the National Research Council, Italy.

He coined[1] the term Slow DoS Attack and he first proved[2] how a single mobile device can successfully carry out a cyberattack against a conventional network service.

Main contributions to the field[edit]

During its researches, Enrico Cambiaso conceptualized and implemented different cyber-threats:

  • SlowDroid,[2] the first low-rate denial of service perpetrated from a mobile device, with its variants SlowReq[3] and SlowComm,[4] improving the attack performance
  • Slow Next,[5] an attack considered particularly difficult to detect, due to its legitimate behavior
  • SlowDrop,[6] simulating unreliable client connections to exploit network services
  • SlowBot Net,[7] a distributed denial of service botnet composed by mobile devices
  • SlowITe[8] and its variant SlowTT,[9] exploiting the MQTT protocol
  • 0-day vulnerability exploiting remote AT commands on XBee modules[10]
