Environment One Corporation, known as E/One, is a manufacturer located in Niskayuna, New York, in the Capital District. The company has two main businesses:

The company is owned by Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC) of Portland, Oregon, a worldwide manufacturer of complex metal components and products, listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "PCP."

History[edit]

E/One was founded in 1968 and incorporated in January 1969[1] by six engineers from General Electric’s environmental systems branch of the Research & Development Center in Schenectady, New York. At GE, these members were involved in R&D for air, water and industrial waste. A major effort of the group was the participation in a project of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) entitled “Separation of Sanitary Sewage from Combined Systems of Sewage.” The Federal Water Pollution Control Administration, now the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), sponsored the project. This work went on to define E/One’s Sewer Systems business.[2]

E/One also engaged in power industry research and development, and developed the Generator (Core) Condition Monitor in the 1970s.[3]

E/One was a publicly traded company beginning in 1970, under the symbol "EON" on the Boston Stock Exchange. The company was listed under the symbol "EONE" on the NASDAQ exchange in 1990, until its purchase. E/One was purchased by Precision Castparts Corp. in March 1998.[4]

Sewer Systems Business[edit]

E/One's Sewer Systems business manufactures grinder pumps for pressure sewer systems. E/One is the original manufacturer of the grinder pump for residential use.[5] There have been three “generations” of pumps during the life of the company: the 200 Series (1969-1994), the 2000 Series (1994-2007), and the Extreme Series (2007-present).[6]

D-Series[edit]

  • DH071 – one pump, wetwell/drywell HDPE tank, 70 gallon capacity[7]
  • DH151 – one pump, wetwell/drywell HDPE tank, 150 gallon capacity[8]
  • DH152 – two pumps, wetwell/drywell HDPE tank, 150 gallon capacity[9]
  • DH272 – two pumps, wetwell/drywell HDPE tank, 270 gallon capacity[10]
  • DH502 – two pumps, wetwell/drywell HDPE tank, 500 gallon capacity[11]

W-Series[edit]

  • WH101 – one pump, open wetwell HDPE tank, 100 gallon capacity[12]
  • WH101F – one pump, open wetwell HDPE tank, 100 gallon capacity, for use in areas that flood[13]
  • WH231 – one pump, open wetwell polyethylene tank, 230 gallon capacity[14]
  • WH471 – one pump, open wetwell polyethylene tank, 476 gallon capacity[15]
  • WH472 – two pumps, open wetwell polyethylene tank, 476 gallon capacity[16]
  • WH482 – two pumps, open wetwell polyethylene tank, 486 gallon capacity[17]
  • WH483 – three pumps, open wetwell polyethylene tank, 486 gallon capacity[18]
  • WH484 – four pumps, open wetwell polyethylene tank, 486 gallon capacity[19]

“Upgrade” Pump[edit]

Previously known as the Aftermarket Grinder Pump, or AMGP. E/One’s grinder pump is available as a replacement pump for grinder pump stations that were made by another manufacturer.[20]

Alarm Panels[edit]

Alarm panels are available with a variety of features and will alert the owner if there is a problem with the grinder pump:

  • E/One Sentry Basic - Basic visual and audible alarm. For grinder pump stations with one pump. [21]
  • E/One Sentry Protect - "Trouble" indication shuts down the pump temporarily in the event of an unacceptable operating condition. For grinder pump stations with one pump.[22]
  • E/One Sentry Protect Plus - Includes the Protect features plus a predictive status display module. For grinder pump stations with one or two pumps.[23]
  • E/One Sentry PreStat - Features a programmable auto-dialer and pre-alarm indication for major operating parameters. For grinder pump stations with one pump.[24]
  • E/One T260 - For grinder pump stations with two pumps [25]

Utility Systems Business[edit]

E/One's Utility Systems business manufactures monitoring and protection equipment for large electric power generators. There are two categories: overheat monitoring and hydrogen gas purity monitoring.

Overheat Monitoring[edit]

  • GCM-X – Generator Condition Monitor, Explosionproof Design. The GCM-X is designed for use with hydrogen-cooled generators. When insulating materials inside the generator overheat, thermal decomposition can occur. The GCM-X monitors generators for overheating and breakdown of this insulation and if it detects a "hot spot," an alarm will occur. The filter inside the GCM-X will collect a hydrogen sample.[26]
  • GCM-A II – Generator Condition Monitor for Air-Cooled Apparatus, Second Generation. The GCM-A is designed for use with air-cooled generators and works much in the same way as the GCM-X, except the GCM-A takes air samples.[27]
  • Gen-Tags – Specially synthesized, chemically and thermally stable compounds applied to critical areas of the generator so that areas of overheating can be identified during sample analysis.[28]

Hydrogen Purity Monitoring[edit]

  • GGA – Generator Gas Analyzer. The GGA continuously monitors the hydrogen cooling gas inside the generator. [29]
  • PGA – Portable Gas Analyzer. A portable version of the GGA.[30]
  • DHCP – Dual Hydrogen Control Panel. The DHCP was designed specifically for monitoring and controlling hydrogen purity in GE generators that use scavenging seal oil systems.[31]
  • Gas Station – A modular platform that allows for different combinations of E/One’s products onto one “skid”[32]

Hydrogen Gas Drying[edit]

  • GGD – Generator Gas Dryer[33]
