They both met in their high school years where they discovered their common interest and love for listening to and performing hip hop music, ever since they've stayed as close friends. Hex One, whose birth name is Christian Ortega was born in Barranquilla, Colombia. Hex One and his family relocated to Elmhurst, Queens in New York City when he was at a young age, it was there that he grew to follow Hip-Hop culture. When Hex One was 13 he moved to Miami, Florida with his family. Tek-nition, whose real name is Edwin Canela was born in South-Florida where he lived for most of his life before eventually living in Miami, Florida where he met his group partner Hex One.[1]
In 2006, both artists started recording under the name of Epidemic, and recorded "The Mixtape...", it consists of the duo rhyming over classic Hip-hop industry beats. In 2010 Hex One studied a degree in audio engineering. After graduating Hex One made contact with a producer by the name of 5th Element from Las Vegas, Epidemic went on to collaborate with 5th Element as their sole producer to complete their first album named Illin Spree.[2]
