Ernse Immanuel Erbe
Ernst Immanuel Erbe (1854-1927) was a Moravian musician who created numerous pieces of music for many different instruments.
Erbe was born in bern Switzerland in 1854. The son of a Moravian minister, Erbe was educated in Herrnhut and became a regular church organist by the age of 14. He was a recorded prodigy, even being turned down by musical contests due to the judges suspecting the music was written by a professional. he came to the United States at 35 and spent the rest of his life in St. Louis where he worked as an organist and bookkeeper. over the course of his career, he wrote many anthems and musical pieces for string quartets, solos for men, piano pieces, organ pieces, and cantatas. some pieces are preserved by the Moravian Music Foundation in Old Salem.
