Ben Collins (born September 3, 1986) is an American musician, record producer, technologist, and inventor from Ypsilanti, Michigan. He is currently the lead singer and guitarist of the band Minihorse.[1]. As a record producer, he has worked with artists such as Frontier Ruckus, Anna Burch, Stef Chura, Bonny Doon and others[2]

In 2007, Collins co-founded the Ypsilanti, MI band Lightning Love[3] as lead guitarist, with vocalist and songwriter Leah Diehl and drummer Aaron Diehl. In 2014, he started Minihorse, an indie rock band currently signed to Park the Van records. He has also been a live engineer for such groups as The Von Bondies and Broncho.

Collins co-founded the mobile app company Auralab, a Michigan-based mindfulness and technology startup. He is the co-creator of the meditation app "Breathscape," a biofeedback-based app which turns a user's breath into algorithmic music.

As a robot operator, Collins traveled with Sophia the Robot to many of her public appearances, including The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Star Talk with Neil deGrasse Tyson, and The Today Show[4]

As a videographer, Collins has produced music videos for Anna Burch, Minihorse, Fred Thomas, and Nobody.

Personal Life

Collins has stated publicly that he suffers from tinnitus, hyperacusis and misophonia[5], which played a part in his meditation interest.
