Conferences[edit]

eTail is organized by Worldwide Business Research LLC (WBR), a conference production company that runs 100+ industry conferences and networking events worldwide. Worldwide Business Research is a subsidiary of the PLS Group, Inc.

The first eTail conference was hosted in New York City in 1999. Worldwide Business Research would later expand to more locations over the following years. As of May, 2019, the eTail Conference series included these annual conferences: eTail West, eTail East, eTail Canada, eTail Germany, eTail Asia, eTail Connect, eTail Nordic, and eTail Europe.

These conferences are attended by online & brick & mortar retailers to discuss topics such as omnichannel strategy,[11] digital transformation,[12], customer experience,[13][14][15] and retail strategy.[16][17][18][19][20][21]

Etymology[edit]

The term Etail is a sub-category of eCommerce (electronic commerce) that deals with online retail. Etail is a form of electronic commerce which allows consumers to directly buy physical goods or services from a seller online.

WBR did not coin the word e-tail or its variant, etail. E-tail is a portmanteau of the words electronic and retail (cf. email). The earliest documented use of this word as a common noun occurred in 1995.[22]
