Eugene Agboifo Ohu is a Nigerian researcher.[1] He is a senior lecturer in the Department of Organizational Behaviour/Human Resource Management at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, Nigeria. He also serves as the director of the Virtual Human-Computer Interaction Lab (VHCI Lab) at Lagos Business School.[2][3][4][5][6][7]

Education[edit]

Eugene completed his secondary school education at Ika Grammar School, Agbor from 1981 to 1986.[8] He studied Pharmacy at the University of Benin and graduated in 1997. He pursued a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education at the University of Calabar. In 2012, Eugene obtained his doctorate degree in Institutional Social Communications from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, Italy.[2][9][10]

Career[edit]

Eugene began his career at Netorb Media, Nigeria, a communication firm catering to businesses' internal and external communication needs.[8] In 2014, Eugene began working full-time as a faculty member at the Lagos Business School, teaching Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management.[11]

In 2018, he established the Virtual Human Computer Interaction Laboratory focused on researching how people are affected by the technologies they use at work and leisure. His research interests includes psychology of human-computer interactions, virtual reality, and organizational behavior.[12][1][9][13]

Eugene is a member of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) and has served on the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).[2][14] Also, he is an external examiner at Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business, University of West Indies. Eugene is also affiliated with the following institutions: the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), the Academy of Management (AOM), and the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN). Additionally, he serves as an entrepreneurship mentor in the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) entrepreneurship program.[14][9][10]

Virtual Human Computer Interaction (VHCI) Laboratory[edit]

The Virtual Human-Computer Interaction (VHCI) lab was established in 2018 to conduct research on the intersection between psychology and technology.[15][16]The lab aims to promote love and unity in Nigeria and make the world a better place.[17] The VHCI Lab is equipped with cutting-edge technology to develop and research virtual reality. It uses Alienware desktops, Alienware laptops, HTC Vive Pro Eye head-mounted displays, Oculus Quest 2 headsets, and Rokoko Motion Capture Suits.[18]

The VCHI lab recieved a grant of $234,000 from the Templeton World Charity Foundation, Inc (TWCF) in 2020 to carry out virtual reality research.[1] Also, in 2022, the VHCI lab established a collaboration with Meta to conduct a Virtual Reality study across Africa. This initiative is part of a $50 million worldwide investment in research and program partners aimed at fostering collaborative efforts in constructing the metaverse.[19]
