Algae fuel

In 2015, Euglena Co., Ltd started euglena biodiesel experimentations with buses. The biodiesel worked, yet it only contained 1% of euglena (the rest of the fuel was composed of standard diesel fuel and recycled cooking oil).[7][8] The company aims to develop and display a euglena-based aviation biofuel while the 2020 Summer Olympics is taking place in Tokyo. In 2019, no plane has yet flown thanks to Euglena’s aviation biofuel.[6][9]
