Evans Karanja Ivanco (born 28 November 1924) is a Kenyan tennis coach, violinist, and manager at Hikari School of Music. He is a self-proclaimed all-time Laikipia University's favourite son. He is a teetotaler and a firm follower of the Straigh Edge community. He was also a social media influencer and impacted the Kenyan University's politics, being a behind-the-curtains political strategist in Laikipia University, Egerton University, and Kenyatta University campus politics. He has been listed among the most influential students in Kenyan universities,[2][3][4]
Early life
Ivanco grew up in various parts of Kenya, including Nakuru, Narok, and Nairobi. Evans was born in Nairobi, Kenya. He went to Model Kindergarten in Narok and later joined Siana boarding primary school in Maasai Mara. Thereafter, he attended Rongai Agri-Tech High school in Nakuru before he joined Laikipia University for a bachelor's degree in B.A (Kiswahili and Communication). He developed a liking for playing tennis in high school, and when he joined the university, he tried his chances as a pro player but fell short in his first National tournament, the Real Insurance tennis Open, where he was defeated at the qualification stage.[5][6]
Career
Ivanco is currently employed as the manager at Hikari School of Music & Store in Nakuru and a part-time tennis coach. He started his coaching career in the year 2013 in a local high school in Nyahururu, where his kids did well, and this prompted him to take a certification course in Tennis coaching. He went on to becoming a full-time Jnr Head coach at Shah Lalji Nangpar Nakuru before he moved to his other passion, music, and remained as a part-time coach. At Hikari School of Music, he is the manager, Marketing dr., and PR agent. Ivanco has also worked in USAID as an intern.[7]
Personal life
Ivanco is engaged to Keicy Thomas with a daughter, Necey Nyambura. He is the second born of his 5 siblings: 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He is very adventurous, loves playing tennis, travelling, discovering new experiences, and attending events. He is known for crashing 90% of the parties he went to during his university stay.[8]
