Exo Dj (born Alessio Pennacchio on 23 January 1986) is an Italian Dj/producer who lives in Milan.
Biography[edit]
Early Life (2002-2008)
Exo Dj starts making music at 14, and matures his passion for hip-hop with his twin Surfa.[1] In 2000, with his brother and Skuba, he forms the group Ira Funesta,[2] with whom he publishes a demo and two albums from 2002 to 2007, which see the collaborations of Tormento, Hyst and Jesto. In 2008 he gives life to his studio "E-Lab" where he records and produces some tracks for the first solo album of Surfa named "Com'On".[3]
Fino Alla Fine (2010)
2010 is a year full of productions for Exo Dj who collaborates in the realization of the third album of Surfa which features the single "Rap Roba Fresh" in collaboration with Guè Pequeno.[4] In the following months, Exo Dj produced several songs including "Pum Pum Pum Rmx" featured in “Champagne & Spine” by Emis Killa,[5] “Stiamo Ancora Insieme Ma” within “La Mia Città Ep” by Daniele Vit, “Per Amore” (in co-production with Big Fish & Marco Zangirolami) in “Equilibrio” by Ensi[6] and “Non Lo Fare” by Coco & Caneda within “Poesia Cruda Mixtape”.[7] In November he released "Fino Alla Fine", his first single featuring Jake La Furia, Emis Killa, Daniele Vit, Ensi, Luchè|Luché, Surfa and Vacca.[8]
Productions (2011-2015)
In 2011 Exo Dj has worked on the realization of "Gabriele" by Surfa creating all the instrumentals of the album.[9] Also in that year he produced "Magnum Mi Seh" within the "album “Pelleossa” by Vacca,[10] “Blasfemia Pt.2”[11] & “Soffritto” respectively present in “Tutto il contrario Remixtape” and “Il mio primo disco da venduto”[12] by Fedez. In 2012 he produced "È Una Bugia" and "Vallo A Raccontare" contained in Scandaland by GionnyScandal.[13] In 2013 the new Surfa album entitled "B.L.O.G." was released, with Exo DJ's 4 instrumentals, including the single "Distanza"[14] [15] In 2014 he entered into a collaboration with Daniele Vit who entrusted him with all the productions of his EP "K".[16] On television it participates in the first edition of the Sky format: TOP DJ.[17] Also later that year he produced the single "Poli Opposti" by Surfa feat Mara Sattei.[18]
Ultimo Giorno (2016-2020)
In April 2016, Exo Dj released his second single "Ultimo Giorno". The song is in collaboration with Entics, Danti, Nto, Rayden, Nerone, Daniele Vit, Tormento and Vincenzo Da Via Anfossi. The video-clip made between Milan, Rome and Naples, sees the presence of several cameos including Marco Materazzi, Antonio Pennacchi and Lillo from the duo Lillo & Greg.[19][20] [21] In 2018 he made several productions for the Swiss rapper Cristian Margelia, including “Venti3” and “In Zona”.[22] In 2020, together with Surfa, he creates the music for the lightshow of the FC Inter, that precedes the kick-off of the matches, at the Stadio San Siro.[23] [24]
Mixtape
In addition to the productions, from 2008 to today, Exo Dj has dedicated himself to the creation of 24 mixtape, published and reviewed by the major international dedicated sites.[25] [26] [27]
Fashion & Design
In 2010, 2012 and 2018, in collaboration with New Era Cap, he created the concept and design of three hats dedicated to Surfa.[28] With him, in 2017, he released “The Social Project”, the first watch G-Shock created through the suggestions of online users through a live streaming. [29] [30] [31] [32] [33] In 2011 he released his iPhone App that allows DJs to play sounds during their mixes.[34] Over the years Exo Dj has created works for various artists and brands, among these we find the logo for “Il Ragazzo D’Oro” of Guè Pequeno and the one for “Dogozilla Empire” by Don Joe. The album covers “Tutto Il Contrario Remixtape” of Fedez,[35] “Sporco” and “L'ultimo tango” by Vacca.[36] Videodiary for Eurosport, Footlocker, Mauro Icardi[37] and Surfasport.
Personal Life
On April 19, 2017, Exo Dj graduated at the Università di Siena in Pharmacy.[38] In 2021, after his mother's sad farewell, she published a song dedicated to her named "Più Forte Degli Eroi".
