Fantasy Movie League (FML) is an online fantasy simulation sport created by Kinetoplay and Matthew Berry where instead of drafting a team of athletes to a roster, players are given virtual currency called FML Bux each week to fill a theater with eight movies of their choice.[1] The goal is to try to make the most money each week by picking the perfect combination of movies while remaining under the $1,000 FML bux cap. Fantasy Movie League was acquired by National CineMedia (NCM) in May 2017, helping the game reach new height and player ship. [2]
History[edit]
FML began in the summer of 2015.
A special contest was held with the hosts of The View, where the winner was flown to the Oscars.[3] That contest was won by Just Plain Awesome. In the Summer of 2016 season they brought the contest back. This time the winner was flown to the premiere of Pete's Dragon. That contest was won by Backseat Directing.
On May 17, 2017, it was announced that National CineMedia (NCM) acquired Fantasy Movie League[4][5].
Gameplay[edit]
FML is played in seasons: Summer, Fall, Awards (Winter) and Spring. Weekly totals are added together to compete for the season with the winners awarded movie themed prizes. Private leagues can also be created to compete against friends.[6]
