History[edit]

Ferring FC was formed in 1951, and originally played in the Worthing and District Football League.[6] The club worked their way up the divisions until in 1964 they entered the Sussex County Football League.[7] They stayed there until the end of the 1971–72 campaign, when they joined the West Sussex Football League.[6][7] During which time they won Division Two south in the 1979–80 season and immediately in the season afterwards Division one.[8][9]

Two seasons later at the end of the 1982–83 competition the club gained promotion into the newly formed Sussex County Football League Division 3 and gaining promotion to Division 2 at the first attempt.[10] They also won the Division Three cup that season as well.[11] They then spent the next six seasons before being relegated to Division Three again at the end of the 1989–90 season.[10] At the end of the 1992–93 they were relegated back into the West Sussex Football League and later joined the Worthing and District Football League.[10][12] After the move into the Worthing and district league the club was disbanded at some point in this time.[12]

In 2007 a new committee was formed from scratch and two senior teams and a youth team were created, and joined the Worthing and District Football League.[12] In 2010, Ferring were crowned Champions of the Worthing and District Football League Premier Division and once again were successful in entering in the Sussex County Football League County Division 3.[12][13]

The club has played there since its inception and at first had to user the village hall for changing rooms until the early 1960s when changing rooms were added.[6] A new club house was opened in 1983 with a match against Worthing, and was partly funded by getting the local people to sponsor the 4000 roof tiles at £1 each.[6]
