Lyons Road is a thoroughfare that passes through Palm Beach and Broward Counties. It is mostly within unincorporated Palm Beach County, but also passes through Golden Lakes, Wellington, Sandalfoot Cove, Coconut Creek, Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Lauderdale Lakes, Roosevelt Gardens, Washington Park, and Boulevard Gardens city limits. Along with SR 7, Military Trail, Congress Avenue, Florida's Turnpike, I-95, Jog Road, and U.S. 1, It is a major north-south thoroughfare in Palm Beach. (As Dixie Highway is mostly consolidated with U.S. 1 and has a gap in the route.) It is a major route in Coconut Creek, as it passes from North to South through the entire City. The Promenade at Coconut Creek is located in an intersection with Lyons Road and Wiles Road. It also serves as a bypass of the coast, Florida's Turnpike, and SR 7 when they are clogged with traffic jams.
Route Description[edit]
After Grande Boulevard intersects State Road 704, locally known as Okeechobee Boulevard. It is renamed to Sansburys way. It goes on for an undisclosed amount of distance, intersecting with Belvedere Road before intersecting with U.S. 98 (which is overlapped by State Road 80) Sansburys Way is renamed to Lyons Road. Lyons Road continues as it intersects Forest Hill Boulevard before there is a gap in the route. The Road re-continues after intersecting with Lake Worth Road. It goes on to a nearly straight line, as it intersects Lantana Road, Boynton Beach Boulevard, Atlantic Avenue, and Yamato Road. After intersecting with SR 794 (Yamato Road), It enters West Boca Raton. It still, though, remains residential. It intersects both Glades Road and Palmetto Park Road (SR 798). After it crosses the Gulf Stream, the Broward - Palm Beach county line, it is the location of North Broward Preparatory School. It crosses SR 810, and crosses SR 869. After the interchange, it makes it to a mall, and crosses the rest of Coconut Creek. After SR 814, it crosses Florida's Turnpike (with any exit or entry movements made by SR 814, it then goes on SR 840, then in order, State Roads 870, 816, 838, and 842. After that, it reaches it its southern Termini at SR 736.
