Flylandexpress is an African online marketplace that bridges the gap between African farmers and oversea buyers[1]

History[edit]

As at May 2023, it held over 700 farmers, attracting over 10,000 Food Retailers and over 600 original users per months, who look for bargains in Food and Agriculture Products[2] Global Sourcing Hub of Food and Agriculture,[3] Grocery Selection on FlylandExpress, Fruits & Vegetables and most recently, to look for jobs by searching through Flyland career page, [4] and job vacancies.[5] As at May 02, 2023, Flylandexpress is ranked as the 92nd TOP site in Uganda for Food and Agriculture Products by SimilarWeb.[6]

Flylandexpress was founded in 2021 in Kampala, Uganda by Frank Mutebi Ssajjabi, who is the company's CEO. In Dubai 2021, Frank started a project known as Buy From Dubai and Receive in Uganda,[7] Enabling Ugandans to buy products from Dubai and get them delivered at their doorstep in Uganda.

In 2022, Frank Joined Noon, an E-commerce and Online Shopping Company in Dubai.[8] Were he Worked as a senior Fulfilment Associate thus acquiring the E-commerce Knowledge of launching FlylandExpress Ecommerce Platform in Uganda.

In March 2023, FlylandExpress announced the official launch and it's operations in Uganda held the first conference for Farmers, Food Retailers and sellers, which took place in Kampala Hotel in SOJOVALO.[9]

FlylandExpress faces competition from other dominant African digital commerce platforms, such as Jumia Uganda.

Mobile application[edit]

Flylandexpress has the mobile version of the website, developed for Android which is available in Uganda, Kenya, Dubai, and Ethiopia. According to the Google Play statistics, FlylandExpress B2B is in the list of 40 top Most B2B apps of food and Agriculture in Uganda.[10]
