Foluke Adenike Adeboye (born July 13, 1948) is a Nigerian Pastor and the Mother-in-Israel (Mummy G.O) at the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Folu Adeboye is the wife of Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.[1][2][3]

Early life[edit]

Folu Adeboye was born Foluke Adenike Adeyokunnu in Ijeshaland in 1948. She was the first born child and eldest of 10 children in the Adeyokunnu Family,[4] a royal family in Ijeshaland from the lineage of the Owa Obokun Oji. Her father, Jacob Adelusi Adeyokunnu was a Methodist Minister and teacher, while her mother was a trader.[5]

Education[edit]

Folu Adeboye attended Methodist Primary School-Oke Eshe- Ilesha and Methodist Girls School- Agurodo-Ilesha after which she obtained her Grade II Teacher’s Certificate from United Missionary College (UMC), Ibadan. She thereafter proceeded to College of Education, University of Lagos for her Diploma in Education (Science and Mathematics). She has attended in addition to these, several professional Development Training Courses. Notable among these are:

  • Understanding Accelerated Christian Education – 1992
  • Proficiency Course for Directors of Schools and Heads of Schools at the University College of St. Johns and St. Marks, Plymouth, U.K.- 2000
  • Special Needs Education Training – Organized by CRSM and conducted in Lagos by The Columbia University in the City of New York - 2005

Ministry[edit]

Folu Adeboye was officially ordained as a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God in 1996, and she has held top leadership positions in the church including President of the Redeemed Women Fellowship (God Women Fellowship) and Director of Education.[citation needed] She has a passion for Christian education and planting Christian schools, and coordinating missions work in the field of Christian Education when she started the Christ the Redeemer’s Schools Movement which has led to the establishment of several Christian Educational institutions.[6]

Personal life[edit]

Folu Adeboye married Enoch Adeboye on December 17, 1967. She is a mother of four children (three sons and a daughter) and several grandchildren from the marriage.[7][8]
