Forestway Shopping Centre (formerly Arndale Shopping Centre) is a shopping centre in the suburb of Frenchs Forest in Sydney's Northern Beaches.[1] It is located on the corner of busy Warringah Road and Forest Way, which gives its name to the shopping centre. It is also located less than 1km from the Northern Beaches Hospital site.

The shopping centre opened in 1964 and was known as Arndale Shopping Centre. It was built for UK Development company Arndale Property Trust and was the third Arndale chain shopping centre to open in Australia (the first two being Armada Arndale and Marion Arndale, now known as Westfield Marion). In the 1970s, the centre was renamed Forestway Shopping Centre and was sold to General Property Trust (GPT) in 1996.[2] Ten years later, Forestway was redeveloped and features a Franklins and Woolworths.[3] In 2012, Franklins closed its store and was replaced by Aldi.
In November 2015, Forestway Shopping Centre was sold by GPT to US-based company Invesco for $112 million. There were plans for redevelopment but no construction has started.[4][5]
Future[edit]
Since the rezoning of the suburb Frenchs Forest, Forestway Shopping Centre and Frenchs Forest Public School will be rezoned for the 12 storey apartments. The school will stay and the centre will be redeveloped.[6]
