Fraser Stewart is a British entrepreneur and co-founder of Lyfeguard, a financial technology company offering a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for personal administration, finance management, and digital legacy planning. He currently serves as the company's Chief Commercial Officer.[1]
Education
Stewart was educated at Colfe's School in London.[2] He then attended the University of Exeter, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History & Politics. He later received a Global MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester.[3][4]
Business career
Early career
Before founding Lyfeguard, Stewart held commercial roles at British Airways and HSBC. He was also recognized as one of the "30 Under 30" by the Travel Trade Gazette (TTG) during this time.[5]
Lyfeguard
In 2021, Stewart co-founded Lyfeguard with his father, Gary Stewart. The idea for the company stemmed from the difficulties Gary encountered while managing the estates of deceased friends. Lyfeguard aims to address these challenges by offering a centralized platform for users to organize their important documents, financial information, and online accounts.[6][7]
As Chief Commercial Officer, Stewart is responsible for Lyfeguard's commercial strategy, including product development, sales, and marketing.[8][9][10]
Personal views
Stewart actively contributes to discussions on fintech, digital legacy planning, and the broader impact of technology. He has spoken about the need for increased data access and security within the financial sector, stating, "Data is the new currency in today's financial landscape, and the fintech industry is at the forefront of leveraging technology to solve problems and create better financial solutions."[11][12][13]
He has advocated for increased data access and security within the financial sector, emphasizing the importance of technology in developing effective financial solutions. In an interview with The Fintech Times, he stated that "Financial firms must prioritize customer outcomes and ensure their products and services are designed to meet the evolving needs of consumers in a rapidly changing digital landscape." He believes that "ensuring positive customer outcomes is the responsibility of financial firms," and that this requires a focus on transparency, trust, and ethical data usage.[14][15]
Stewart has been critical of the UK government's decision to cancel £1.3 billion in funding for AI and compute projects, calling it a "setback for the UK's global technology superpower ambitions." He has also advocated for increased collaboration between the government, academia, and industry to ensure the UK remains competitive in the field of AI.[16][17][18]
He has also expressed concerns about the potential risks of AI, particularly with the rise of tools like ChatGPT, while participating in a debate at the Houses of Parliament on the future of the UK's digital economy. He stressed the need for responsible development and implementation of AI technologies.[19] Furthermore, he has highlighted the importance of embracing AI to enhance customer engagement and stay ahead of the curve in the financial services industry, stating that "AI can help businesses to personalize their services, automate tasks, and gain a deeper understanding of customer needs."[20][21]
