Fusion Consulting was a boutique industry research, analysis and strategic advisory firm providing advice on Asia-Pacific markets. The firm had offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai from which it covered focus industries in 16 Asia-Pacific countries for its clients.[2]

In October, 2008 Fusion Consulting was acquired by Global Intelligence Alliance Group,[3] which was in turn acquired by M-Brain in September 2014.[4]

History[edit]

The firm was founded in 2002, initially with offices in Singapore and Hong Kong, by Peter Read and Marine Mallinson. Their interest was in developing a boutique firm that specialized in strategic advisory rigorously driven by fact based insights and analysis.

In 2005, the firm opened its Shanghai office.

In 2008, the firm was acquired by Global Intelligence Alliance Group as a result of Fusion's directors approaching GIA (which previously had no presence in Asia) and suggesting the companies should merge to form a global market intelligence company.[1] In early 2009, the firm re-branded and adopted the Global Intelligence Alliance Group branding. The firm was an attractive acquisition target for Global Intelligence Alliance Group as it offered the latter an Asia Pacific presence, office footprint and established multinational clientele.

Publications[edit]

Asia-Pacific Business Vitality Index[edit]

The company published the "Asia-Pacific Business Vitality Index" annually covering a range of sectors such as retailing, chemical, consumer electronics, logistics, financial services and media (e.g. Asia-Pacific F&B Business Vitality Index;[5] Asia-Pacific Logistics Business Vitality Index; Asia-Pacific Chemical Business Vitality Index; etc.).

The Business Vitality Index is an analysis of the presence, growth and innovation of major companies in the Asia-Pacific region. The index was based on quantitative as well as qualitative analysis of the ability of companies to impact their industries in the region. Each index evaluated the overall performance of a selected group of 20 companies per industry by focusing on three dimensions: innovation, regional presence and revenue performance. Its aim was to provide a benchmark for business expansion in the Asia-Pacific region based on non-proprietary, public domain information that is comparable across sectors.

Asia-Pacific Pay-TV Operators Survey[edit]

The survey, published annually, allowed programmers to find out what the major cable & satellite television platforms in Asia and Australia think about their channels and support, their plans for the future and opinions on digital content. The report then ranked programmers with the best programming quality, on-air promotions, as well as sales and marketing support.[6][7][8] The survey targeted programming managers at 45 major carriers in 15 countries across the region, focusing on the largest players in each country. The survey was produced in cooperation with ContentAsia.[9][10][11]

Weekly News Update[edit]

The Weekly News Update was a weekly roundup of business news from around the Asia-Pacific region, covering the company's core industry practices: chemical, consumer & retail, financial services, industrial & logistics, information & communication technology, life science and media & leisure. The newsletter was distributed to over 25,000 business decision markers around the world.
