Greg J. Marchand is an American surgeon. He is noted for his research and publications on laparoscopic hysterectomy[1] and salpingectomy.[2] Marchand is also known for his work in minimally invasive surgery.[3]
Career[edit]
Marchand is known for developing two surgical techniques, namely a salpingectomy technique,[4][5] as well as a laparoscopic cervical cerclage technique.[6][7] His techniques have been the subject of controversy secondary to the practice of morcellation[8][9], which has the potential to spread cancer throughout the abdomen.[10]
In October 2008, Richard H. Demir and Greg J. Marchand removed a 7-pound uterus using minimally invasive surgery, which was recognized by Guinness World Records.[11][12] Marchand currently holds three tumor[13][14][15] and uterus[16] removal records.
