GO! Radio Rock - The Future of Rock'n'Roll
GO! Radio Rock is an Alternative, Independent and Free Form web radio based in São Paulo - Brazil.
GO! Radio Rock was created on June 12, 2012, by the musician and music producer Alex Freire (aka Alexorbit). Alex is currently the music director of the web radio.
The first song broadcast on the radio was "The first part", the second track on the album Foolish, from the American band Superchunk, from Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Initially, it experimentally used the name "Piratas do Face" (Pirates of Face), until July 4, when the new name "GO! Radio Rock", using the slogan "O Futuro do Rock´n´Roll" (the future of Rock'n'Roll), was definitely adopted and being transmitted through the website, and also available on the online radio global network TuneIN.
The name "GO!" emerged in honor of the title song GO!, of the English band from Northampton, Tones on Tail, a side project of musician Daniel Ash, former guitarist of the band Bauhaus and Love and Rockets.
The content broadcast on GO! is Independent music Alternative Rock, making room for new bands and artists besides playing often independent artists of the 1980s and 1990s; that is the reason behind the slogan "O Futuro do Rock'n'Roll". This slogan is also a tribute to the extinct American radio station "WOXY.com", based in Cincinnati - Ohio and Austin, very known for its tagline "the future of Rock n Roll".
The transmission is 24/7, and it has 5 radio shows so far in the schedule. Three of them are broadcast live. Besides the fixed schedules, it often makes coverage of musical events, art, and urban art interventions.
It recently did a full coverage of 4 major events at the São Paulo Museum of Image and Sound.
