Garuda Aerospace is a Chennai(India) based dual DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation, India) approved drone start-up company.[3][4] It was founded in 2015 by young entrepreneur Agnishwar Jayaprakash who is also an Asian gold medalist swimmer.[4][5]
Garuda Aerospace drone manufacturing facilities were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022.[6][3][7]
Former Indian Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the brand ambassador of Garuda Aerospace as well as its shareholder and Garuda Aerospace is also the official drone partner of IPL team Chennai Super Kings for 2023.[6][3]
Garuda Aerospace which is Make In India venture has also partnered with IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, Swiggy, HAL, DRDO, Invest India, MIT Boston, Intel, Wipro to innovate new frontiers in technology.[6][8]
History
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) held a successful trial of delivering medicines and food to its employees through Garuda's drones.[9]
In 2021, Garuda Aerospace was roped by National Disaster Response Force for rescue operations after an avalanche in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand.[10][11]
At the Aero India 2023 show, Garuda Aerospace unveiled SURAJ, which is a solar-powered unmanned intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) aerial J-Glider.[12]
During COVID-19, Garuda aerospace provided their drone services to over 10 states across India, including Assam, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh.[13][14][15]
Union Minister Anurag Thakur inaugurated and launched the Drone Skilling Platform of Garuda Aerospace.[7]
World Humanitarian Drive (WHD), UK-based organisation awarded Global Humanitarian Award to Agnishwar Jayaprakash for Garuda's works in Global crisis of COVID-19.[14]
Garuda provided its drones for the support of Turkey Earthquake relief efforts.[16]
