Gary Reeves is an American television and film producer, music executive, and social impact entrepreneur. He is best known as an executive producer of the television series Give, which won the 2017 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s or Family Viewing Series.[1][2] Over a career spanning more than 25 years, Reeves has worked across music, television, entertainment, and philanthropy, often combining corporate partnerships with social impact initiatives.

Early life and community service

Reeves began his career in community and spiritual leadership. At the age of 19, he was asked to serve as a spiritual adviser for the Golden State Warriors, a position he held for approximately ten years.[3] He also served in a similar capacity with a number of professional athletes in the NBA, NFL, and entertainment industry over a 10-year period. Throughout his early adulthood, Reeves became known for his work building bridges between corporate and community organizations. He collaborated with numerous public figures, artists, and civic leaders to establish technology centers, playgrounds, and medical clinics serving under-resourced communities. He has also been active in causes supporting HIV/AIDS awareness, foster youth, youth sports, homeless and women’s shelters, STEAM/STEM education, veterans’ support, and education advocacy.[4]

Career

Music and entertainment

Reeves began his professional career in the music industry, where he became recognized as an early pioneer in artist-brand partnerships. His efforts to align musicians with commercial sponsors helped artists expand their audiences while reducing production costs. Reeves contributed to the success of multiple major projects, including campaigns and recordings associated with artists such as En Vogue, collectively reaching more than 25 million records sold worldwide.[5]

Following his success in music marketing, Reeves served as the Director of Corporate Partnerships and Branding for Magic Johnson Enterprises, where he helped structure several of Magic Johnson’s urban development and business expansion initiatives. His work at MJE emphasized corporate engagement in underserved markets and influenced the growth of Johnson’s entrepreneurial footprint.

Reeves later transitioned into television and film production. He worked with actor and producer Jamie Foxx on the development of comedy specials, including Laffapalooza and other stand-up projects. Through innovative financing and partnership models, Reeves helped structure deals that allowed Foxx to retain ownership of his content. His success in this field attracted attention in Hollywood and led to collaborations with Blair Underwood on projects that merged entertainment with philanthropy.[6]

Television production and social impact

Reeves gained national attention as executive producer of Give, a socially conscious television series that profiled nonprofit organizations and community heroes. The series, hosted by celebrities such as Jenna Bush Hager, aired on NBC and later on OWN, earning a 2017 Daytime Emmy Award.[7][8] Building on that success, Reeves co-founded the Givefluencer Network and the Give Ecosystem, initiatives designed to merge media influence, philanthropy, and social entrepreneurship.[9][10]
