Gaupa, stylised as GAUPA, is a Swedish rock band from Falun. The band has elements of Stoner, Doom, Folk, Progressive and Psychedelic music. Their self-titled debut EP was released in 2018.[1]

Gaupa means 'lynx' in Swedish. Their album, EP and single covers often illustrates the animal.

History[edit]

The band was formed in 2016[2] in the city of Falun, Sweden, which stays 220 kilometers away from the capital Stockholm. [3]

Their first EP is self-titled and was released in June 2018 by Valley Music Dalapop[4][5], a swedish record label. Altough the songs are named in swedish, the lyrics are in english and often have surreal meanings.[6]

Having took part on the Sweden Rock Festival in 2018 and at Sabaton Open Air in 2019[7][8][9], soon they started to get known by their live appearances.

Later, they have signed with Kozmik Artifactz[10][11] , from Germany, and released their EP on vinyl in October 2019.

The first full lenght album came in April 2020 named "Feberdröm", which would mean "Fever Dream" in english.[12] The album consists of 8 songs, which are almost all named in swedish, but with english lyrics.[13][14]

Still in 2020, they have released a new single in December, called "Mammon".[15]

In July 2021, they have signed with record company Nuclear Blast, famous for recording many rock and metal bands.[16]

They have recently announced that will have some new work in 2022, under the label of Nuclear Blast.
