Gaurang Jani is an Indian sociologist and a retired professor.[1] He is an activist for the rights of sex workers and of the LGBT and queer communities.[2][3]

Career

Jani was a member of the faculty at Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.[4]

Jani was an advisor to the Gujarat State OBC Commission.[1] He is a critic of casteism and communalism.[5][6]

Jani's focus of research has been the sex workers of Ahmedabad through his association as a consultant with an NGO called Jyoti Sangh.[7]

Jani runs a publishing house named Anmol Prakashan.[8]
