George Saghir
George Saghir (born 25 June 1961) is a Syrian economist, investment banker, businessman and political analyst.

Education[edit]
Saghir has a degree in Economics from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom and achieved an MBA from Columbia Business School at Columbia University in New York in 1985. During the summer of 1984, he worked for the International Finance Corporation in Washington, D.C.
Career[edit]
In 1985, he joined Citibank's Treasury department in Dubai and Bahrain. In 1991, he was picked to run the bank's Interest Rate Swap book in New York after becoming a Managing Director in the Derivatives Group. In 1996, he joined The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ in New York as a Senior Vice President. He currently works as Associate Director at Graham Capital Management and lives in Larchmont, New York.[1]
In 2010, he established Saghir Advisory Services to advise the Syrian government on establishing a Syrian Purchasing Managers' Index in cooperation with the Syrian branch of Bank Audi.
Political commentary[edit]
He has written for Syria Comment, a Syria-focused blog run by Joshua Landis of the University of Oklahoma. He posts on Twitter as ‘@ EHSANI22’ and has written under the pseudonym ‘Ehsani2’. He is known for his pro-Syrian government position.[2][3]
