Egbe Regina Mbeng (born 15 March 1988),[1] known by her stage name Gina Cephas, is a Nigerian born songwriter and singer. Her music is a combination of pop, hip hop, dancehall and rap. She released two singles titled "Gimme chance" and "Sugar baby".[2]

Early life and education

Gina Cephas was born in Ikom, Cross River State. She attended P.S. Bachuo Ntai primary school and her secondary school at Lyce Billingue De Deido, Douala, Cameroon. Gina Cephas further went to a music school in Esut Institute of Music, Douala, Cameroon. She attended Esut Institute of Music, Douala, Cameroon, where she completed her basic formal education.[3] At a tender age, Gina Cephas had already been known as a dancer, a singer and a drummer. She was also known as the lead vocalist in her school and church choir at the age of 9.

Music career

Gina Cephas started composing songs at an early age; growing up with music was her lifestyle and way of life. She recorded her debut single "Super giver" on December 7, 2014. She moved to Lagos permanently in order to further her music career as it is regarded as the music industry headquarters.[4]

On 16 February 2014, Gina Cephas signed a recording contract with Cephas Music Entertainment, owned by Cephas. Approximately a few months later, she released two promoted singles, "Gimme chance" and "Sugar baby"; the latter went on to be nominated for "Best Artiste with potential" at The Topnaija music award 2015 [5]

She is currently working on her debut album.[6]
