Girlkind (걸카인드) is a five-member girl group under Nextlevel Entertainment debuted on January 17, 2018 with the single "Fanci"performed at Show Champion on the same day.

History[edit]

Pre-Debut[edit]

Girlkind Leader Xeheun competed as a Nextlevel Entertainment trainee in the South Korean reality television show Produce 101 but shortly was eliminated in Episode 5.

Jikang majored in Street Dance (Waaking) and joined the Waaking team under NYDANCE called "GFAMM", she aslo collaborated in various Dance Cover videos on VAMOS YouTube Channel together with Weki Meki member Rina under NYDANCE Studio. She also was the leader of a Dance Team called "Jealosy" formed in 2014.

Medic Jin offered her smooth and jazzy vocals in Kyuho Han (Hangul 한규호) EP "Kinds of Winter" in the songs "Stay" and "Snow Again".

Girlkind in 2017 was mostly as Dance Team which members were:

Some of the members actually appeared in multiple dance covers posted on Girlkind YouTube Channel. In the same year all the videos containing the members listed above were deleted, however, some of the former members can still be seen in an old Tinashe Superlove Cover Video uploaded on April 22 on NYDANCE YouTube Channel.

Girlkind YouTube Channel began uploading "Seheun TV (Hangul 세흔TV)" episodes, a 10-part web series on Seheun and her little sister's daily activities from shopping to dance covers.

Later on, each new member was gradually being introduced through each video uploaded weekly and finally on October 22 for the first time a video featured all of the 5 current members.

2018–Present: Debut[edit]

Girlkind finally became a 5 member group with its current members and debuted in January 17 on MBC Music Show Champion with the single "Fanci" followed by the mixtape "Broccoli" released on April 7.

After that Girlkind remained mostly inactive for 7 months.

In June 11, Girlkind released their second digital single "S.O.R.R.Y" which was crowdfunded through MakeStar.co. The song charted at place #99 on the Korean Music Streaming Service "Bugs!".

After S.O.R.R.Y Girlkind have been inactive for an entire year before announcing a Japanese Tour which was cancelled due to "one sided circumstances" between the hosting company and Nextlevel Entertainment.

Girlkind XJR Sub-Unit[edit]

Girlkind first sub-unit debuted on August 28 with the song "Money Talk" from Girlkind XJR 1st Mini Album "Life is Diamond" consisting of the two members Xeheun and Jikang.[1] Both the members participated into writing the lyrics and making the choreography.
