Glass (social network)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Glass is an American photo sharing social network founded by Tom Watson and Stefan Borsje. Released in mid-2021 on iOS, it caters to still photographers, trying to avoid some of the dark patterns associated with other social networks: it is a subscription service and does not monetize users through targeted advertising. Also notable is that Glass uses a chronological feed rather than engagement algorithms. It does not have a "like" feature, but it did introduce an "appreciation" feature for users to signal they enjoyed a photo, without it publicly showing the count of likes.[1] In an interview with Om Malik, Watson lamented both Flickr and Instagram had lost touch with their photographer roots, eventually deciding with Borsje to build an app of their own to focus on the photography community.[2]
