Global Esports (GE) is a professional esports organization based in India. It was founded in 2017 by Rushindra "Salbatic" Sinha and Mohit "Tsuki" Israney. It currently fields players in Battlegrounds Mobile India, Valorant, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch.
History
Rushindra Sinha, who was a professional doctor and runs a chain of hospitals, had a passion for the Indian esports industry. In 2007-08, he created his first game which was later bought by an Australian company.[1]
Mohit Israney, on the other hand, was an Indian film director, screenwriter and producer. Sinha and Israney are friends and former classmates.[2]
Dr. Rushindra Sinha aka "Salbatic" and Mohit Israney aka "Tsuki" co-founded Global Esports in 2017. Initially, GE hosted a pub stomp event for The International 2017.[3]
GE's first competitive roster was of Overwatch which quickly grew to become India's strongest and one of the strongest teams in Asia. In 2018, both co-founders left their jobs to be involved full time in esports.[3]
In 2019, through a multi-million dollar seed funding round by Venture Catalysts, GE raised an undisclosed amount.[4]
In October, 2019, Global Esports announced a partnership between GE and Harrisburg University. The partnership was done prior to 2019 Overwatch World Cup (OWCC) which was to take place in November, 2019. According to the partnership, GE's Team India was to travel to Harrisburg University to train under the guidance of former Philadelphia Fusion player, Joe "Joemeister" Gramano.[5]
Later that month, GE partnered with gaming hardware manufacturer, Razer. The partnership was done for the OWCC. Razer was appointed as the official gaming equipment sponsor for the team.[6]
