The company was formed in March 2004 as Gramercy Capital Corp., a mortgage REIT.[1]

In July 2007, the company originated a $1.1 billion collateralized debt obligation.[2]

In 2008, the company acquired American Financial Realty Trust for $3.3 billion.[3][4] The company then sold 100 North Main Street for $36 million.[5]

In January 2013, the company began the liquidation of its collateralized debt obligation portfolio.[6]

In April 2013, the company changed its name to Gramercy Property Trust Inc.[7]

In June 2013, the company acquired a truck terminal in Elkridge, Maryland.[8]

In 2015, the company acquired 2.7 million-square-foot office and industrial portfolio for $398.6 million,[9] 5415 Centerpoint Parkway for $24.1 million[10] and a property leased to BAE Systems for $46.8 million.[11] The company also acquired Chambers Street Properties.[12]

In 2016, the company acquired the Specialty Bakery building in Indianapolis for $37 million[13] and a 17-property warehouse portfolio for $521 million.[14][15]

In 2017, the company acquired a property in North Carolina for $9.2 million,[16] a television studio for $18 million,[17] and the Opa Locka Hialeah Flea Market for $80 million.[18]

In February 2018, the company acquired a 1 million square foot warehouse at Cecil Commerce Center leased to Amazon.com for $95 million.[19]

In 2018, the company agreed to be acquired by The Blackstone Group.[20]
