Haroon Rashid Ghafil is a poet, radio announcer, and anchor from Araria, best-known for his cultural poetry in Kulhaiya.[1] He has been credited with helping to develop the Kulhaiya dialect through his poetry.[2] He broadcasts on Purnia Radio.[3]

Background[edit]

Ghafil belongs to the Kulhaiya community[4] and he is from Gaiyari (a village of Araria).[5] He started his journey of life as a poet in Kulhaiya, though he's also a good Urdu Shayar.

Famous Works[edit]

Poems in Kulhaiya like "Humar beta chha BA pass magar chilechha Ghora Ghas", "Ei saal iranko jhari alaiye", "Suna suna hau fatkan bhaiy", "Sune sune ga bahin" etc. are known to be the best of his works and also considered as the finest works in Kulhaiya. His created poem "Padega Hariya padegi razia" was the slogan of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan. His Ghazals generally include life experiences and truths. In the last year his ghazal "Chaman me ek Inqalab dekho" became very famous which he recited in many mushairas.

Awards[edit]

Ghafil is known as one of the most prominent Kulhaiya personality of the present era as he has received many Awards. Numerous Awards he received include - Kavi Ratana, Shan-e-Araria, Rashtra kavi 'Dinkar Award', Purnia Shree, UNISCO Award.[6]
