Syed Ayyub Ali Meer (born March 15, 1953), better known as Meer Ali Meer, is an Indian poet and lyricist known for his contributions to Chhattisgarhi literature and regional cinema.[1][2][3] His poems are often about cultural heritage, traditions, and rural life of Chhattisgarh, earning him widespread recognition in the literary community.[4] Meer's poetic style is characterized by its simplicity, depth, and strong connection to the ethos of Chhattisgarhi folk traditions.[1]

One of his most famous works, Nanda Jahi Ka Re, has gained immense popularity and is often cited as a representation of Chhattisgarhi poetic excellence.[5] Apart from poetry, he has made a mark in the regional film industry by contributing songs to acclaimed Chhattisgarhi films like Bhulan The Maze and Chhattisgarh ke Bheem Chintaram. His lyrical contributions have played a vital role in bringing Chhattisgarhi culture to a wider audience through cinema.[6]

Meer Ali Meer was awarded the Pt. Sunderlal Sharma Samman by the Chhattisgarh government in 2019 for his contribution to literature and regional literature.[7][8]
