Harvest Gold Industries
Harvest Gold Industries is an Indian food company that produces multiple varieties of bread and its associated products. Headquartered in New Delhi, the company completed 25 years of product service in the Indian market in 2018.
History[edit]
Harvest Gold was founded in 1993 by Adil Hassan, a chemical engineer from IIT Delhi, along with his wife, and Director, Taab Siddiqui, MBA alumni of Aligarh University.[1] The first plant was set up by Hassan with an initial investment of Rs 1 crore in Bhiwani, Rajasthan. This plant commenced production in June 1993 and was named Harvest gold foods India Pvt Ltd. [2] Initially, Harvest Gold faced a series of troubles ranging from inadequate machinery to lack of distribution networks. However, Hassan used methods like traditional iron crates and rack rotation to provide a high quality product priced at Rs7 per standard loaf.[3]

Advertising Campaigns[edit]
Harvest gained traction in the market after their famous advertising campaign successfully managed to connect with the target audience. In 1998, Hassan and Taab gave the company’s advertising campaign to Equus Advertising. [5] Their then CEO, Suhel Seth, came with “Bakwas Advertising – First Class Bread.” The idea was to use an advertising copy with shades of Hindi and English so as to appeal to the regular public. Currently, BEI confluence handles the branding and advertising for Harvest Gold. This comes after BEI is responsible for branding and advertising of Group Bimbo of Mexico and the company recently acquired a controlling stake in Harvest Gold.[6] Corporate Social Responsibility There are three initiatives started by Harvest Gold as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility activities:[7] Project Educate a Child For the education of underprivileged children, a school-cum-day care center called ‘Masoom’ was established by the company. In addition, this initiative provided the students with day care and mid-day meals. Project Empower As an attempt to enable unskilled people to earn an income and a livelihood on their own, Harvest Group subject them to multiple efforts under Project Empower. This includes distribution of free trolleys, financial support, skill training, operational inputs, etc.
